Some of these book …. And this is one of them!
A book like this one you have to read in one go to be able to discern and follow the different threads. Too often I have put this book aside in order to keep track of all its movement and changes. To see what is a flashback and what not. Wether it is future or past or present.
It became clear to me that the setting is in the capital city of Angola, Luanda. It is about corruption in this country, about the great divide between rich and poor, about traditional healing. And somewhere in the book the main character is wandering and meandering through life in a lost battle of knowing and not-knowing. Maybe, one day, I will read this book in one go. I do not know if I am able to do so.
The Angolan writer is a global citizen, who lives in Luanda, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. He finished this book in Amsterdam, the capital of The Netherlands by invitation of a Dutch Foundation for the Literary Arts.
