For a period of four years the Dutchman Ad Groen worked as a medical doctor in a mission hospital located in Turiani. This place is situated in the northeast of Tanzania. He was recruited by a Roman Catholic NGO, named Memisa. Ad Groen has managed to put down those four years in a very readable book.
Ad Groen had two years experience in a Dutch hospital, a special training for tropical medicine. He carried some doubts with him but he still moved to Tanzania. In an entertaining and honest way he writes about the corporation with other workers in the hospital, local views on diseases, the role of the bishop in the whole setting.
