review SNEEUW OP DE EVENAAR

In the 1980’s Alexandra de Bruijn lived in Kenya, in the area of Mount Kenya. Her husband worked as a medical doctor. During the few years Alexandra and her husband lived and worked in Kenya wrote down many stories about what came on their way. Stories about the hospital, stories about the many holdiays and journeys they made. In one way or the other they had lots of time on their hands. For expats probably the stories are recognizable: the mingling with the colleagues, with local people, prtoblems that arose at the workplace, the long journeys, the times of enjoyments and pleasure, visits to well-known tourist spots.

As an extra is a story about a journey to Ethiopia.

Het boek is vlot geschreven en goed leesbaar. Er is een lijst met vreemde woorden en de betekenis. Er is een heldere landkaart van Kenia. En die sneeuw op de evenaar is de sneeuw op Mount Kenya.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
