Eskinder MegaThere is a terse relationship between writers and journalist on the one hand and governments on the other hand. In Ethiopia, with hardly any colonial history, the government wants to keep writers in check. The journalist Eskinder Nega has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. He was convicted for terrorism.  He did not throw bombs, he did not take up a rifle. he wrote about the situation orf the Egyptian uprising and the implications for Ethiopia.
