inexplicable present: post-apartheid

In some countries people talk about the post-colonial experience.

In South Africa it is the post-apartheid period. One of the issues discussed concerning this post-apartheid is the cange (or absence of it) in literature. Did the formal end of apartheid change the writing culture in South Africa? Did the change in political systems change the cities and the villages?

One of the writers who has explored these issues is Ivan Vladislavic. He wrote   Portrait with Keys: The City of Johannesburg Unlocked.

Thando Njovane explores the vison of Ivan. She did it in the context of a conference on African Literature, held at the University of York (United Kingdom) in June 2014.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
