mabanckou breaks french chains

He left his country to study in Paris, the capital city of the former colonizer. He wanted to study law and thta is what he did. He graduated and worked at a firm as a lawyer. Meanwhile he had taken up writing and het proved to be succesful. Now he lectures at an American University.

In 1998 he published his “Bleu-Blanc-Rouge” (Présence Africaine). Last year this book was translated and published (by the Indiana University Press) in the English language. This language lagged 15 years behind. The English title is “Blue White Red” (not a very big surprise).

Here you find more about this writer and his books.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
