One of the important segments of the literary world is the work of translation. Without translators and translations we would miss out on many brilliant books, brilliant thoughts, new avenues.

But the job of a translotor is a difficult job.
Travelling from one world to another.
Living in two cultures at a time.
Building bridges.

Johanna Steyn, from South Africa, wrote an article on the work of translation. She is a lecture in French language at the University of Stellenbosch.

She writes about the theory of translation and focusses on translating from the Afrikaner language to the French language.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
