behaving badly

The debate still rages on since the remarks made at Franschhoek Lietarry Festival (South Africa). Anger has been vented. Replies have been given. Articles have been written. Tweets have gone viral.

Many things are not clear to me. One thing I might see: people are grouped together. Labels are attached to these groups. Individuals disappear in these groups, even if they do not want to be huddled together with others in that particular group.

Another thing I notice is that people tend to ‘impose’ adjectives on other individuals. It could be helpful to put the adjectives on your own being, on your own opinion, on your own actions, on your own anger.

Here is another voice in the singing choir. The voice belongs to Wamuwi Mbao, Stellenbosch fame.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
