breaking the silence

One thing that strikes me in all the commotion that came out of Franschhoek Literary Festival (South Africa) is the attempt to describe other people’s moods, emotions, expressions. I think it would be helpful if people talked and wrote about their own position and their own emotion.

Another thing is that people claim black stories for black writers. Maybe also white stories for white writers. Not much of a rainbow nation here. People withdraw in their own shelter and aim at others.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
