In the merry month of August, 2015, Edinburgh will host an international Book Festival. This festival has made a serious attempt to look beyond the borders of Scotland, UK and the English speaking world. 

While visiting Cong0-Brazzaville to meet Alain Mabanckou Nick Barley noticed how popular this writer is in his own country. This was an eye-opener. Now writers from 55 countries have been invited for the festival.
