The Afrikaner language is one of the many official language in the country. In this language many works of literature have been written. The study of the language and the literature of Afrikaner (and the related language Dutch) language is being studied at universities, not just in South Africa, but in other countries as well.

In this article, written by Yves T’Sjoen (also on behalf of Breyten Breytenbach, Dominique Botha and Charl-Pierre Naudé) you will read more about the position of the Afrikaner language. Yves is professor at the University of Ghent (Belgium) and visiting professor at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa).
