marjorie oludhe macgoye: kenya’s literary enigma

On the first day of this month the Kenyan writer Marjorie Oludhe Macgoye passed away at her home in Nairobi. The writer of this article met her first when she ran a bookshop in Nairobi. He shares with us some memories. I do not understand the title of this article, especially the word ‘enigma’, the word does not show in the article. The article shows she was an open woman, an encourager, and approachable woman.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
