Shortlist announced for the 2016 International Dublin Literary award

Another day. Another list.

This time it is the shortlist for the 2016 International Dublin Literary Award. Ten writers have been shortlisted, some of these names are very famous worldwide. Other names are less known. The names on the shortlist have not been put together by The Dubliners, but by public libraries in a number of countries ( I did not see a library from an African country in the list).

There is, however, a novel from an African country. A debut novel titled Our Lady of the Nile. This book has been written in French (Notre-Dame du Nil) by the Rwandan author Scholastique Mukasonga.

The winner of the Award will receive € 100,000.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
