“If only they had the chance”

Cape Town has changed. It has been awarded another name. Now it is Gang Town.

This is what you see on the cover of the book Gang Town, written by the South African writer Don Pinnock. Like so many cities in the world Cape Town has different faces. One ofr the faces is the face that is seen by many tourists who see the old houses and the beaches and the Table Mountain. But here other places. Places were outsider hardly ever venture.

Don Pinnock did venture into the areas of Cape Flats, a place where originally coloureds and blacks were housed in the days of apartheid.  The writer did have a clkose look into the violence and the poverty and other related issues in this area. In this way Cape Town changed to Gang Town.

Here you find an interview with Don Pinnock.
