Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, speaks to foreign journalist during an interview in Lagos, Nigeria, Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. Soyinka said Friday his home of Nigeria is “at war” with the radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram, dismissing calls for peace negotiations he believes only will lead to an “abysmal appeasement.” The comments from the 78-year-old playwright and essayist come as Nigeria’s northeast remains under almost daily attack by the sect, which is blamed for killing more than 740 people this year alone, according to an Associated Press count. Three police officers died in an apparent bombing carried out by the sect in Yobe state early Friday morning, officials said. (AP Photo/Sunday Alamba)
