‘I like an economy of words’

This is an article from the Gulf News and I wondered: ‘Which Gulf?’ As far as I know there are many gulfes in the world and most of them with news. In the end I found out we have to look at the Persian Gulf. It is an area with a thriving economy. This is from the United Arab Emirates. The economies in this area thrive on two sources: oil and cheap human labour from other Asian countries.

Some of these countries spend much money on sporting events and literary events. Now an article on the writer Nnedi Okorafor who is getting taller than the highest building in the UAE. And she has her own economy.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
