She hailed from Belgium and lived her childhood in the Belgian colony Congo. Her relationship with Africa would be an everlasting relationship. She studied in Belgium, did her doctorate and lectured at universities. She studied and lectured about African literature, especially the French-language wing of it. In this way she met the movement of ‘négritude’. Last month she passed away.
