The South African author Tembeka Ngcukaitobi has launched his investigative book “This land is ours” on the history of the first black lawyers in South Africa. These seven portayed lawyers (all members of the ANC) lived and worked in the late 19th and early 20th century. The lawyers looked around them and saw swift changes in the southernmost area of the African continent. They saw the need of a constitution and a system that was governed by this very constitution. All around these men they saw the increase of the colonial powers. They saw how land was taken by outside forces. The rule of law what paramount to these and not the rule of the jungle or the rule of power and background.
