A Medley of Encounters

I have read quite a number of travel books. Travellers crossing border after border, travelling by foot or bicycle or by car through parts of the immense continent of Africa. One common thread in all these travelogues is the difficulty of crossing borders. The hardship of going from one country to another. Papers do not count. A visum does not count. Other ways have to be travelled. Sudden demands for unknown papers and documents and stamps.

The Nigerian writer Blessing Ofia-Inyinya Nwodo wrote a short story about travelling form one state to another in the immense country of Nigeria. You can find her short story about different states in Nigeria here.

I enjoy reading about Africa. New books. Old books. By African writers. By non-African writers. Novel. History. Travel. Biographies. Autobiographies. Politics. Colonialism. Poetry.
